The Story of an

  Interior Designer

Ever since I can remember I’ve been sketching and creating art projects for my little brother and I then leaving our entire living room in disarray. But my obsession for interiors actually began during a school trip to the Coconut Palace when I was ten where the entire property showcased the use of a single indigenous product— the coconut tree. The ingeniousness of its interiors subconsciously piqued my interest in interior design.

Since then I have built for myself over two decades of career around the design profession including a four-year Bachelor degree in Interior Design.

In 2008 I decided to take my career to the world’s melting pot of talents and opportunities, Dubai. I worked with IKEA for five years as an interior designer to build the next biggest stores across the Middle East and Africa which also allowed me to undergo extensive trainings in Sweden exposing me further to the Scandinavian design and way of life.

Since then I have grown to love this culture and design style. Furthermore, it has evolved to include Parisian and wabisabi aesthetics resulting in influences and adaptations in everything I create, be it interiors or artworks alike.

“What I love most about the blend of these three styles is the effortless beauty and joy it exudes with functionality always at its heart.”

My broad range of experience in various design industries affect my approach to designing home and commercial interiors radically.  The fast-paced culture and innate whimsicality in TV production design made me quick at creative decision-making. My eye for detail and styling is honed through my work experiences in visual merchandising, graphic design and events planning. My expertise in conceptualising, space planning and problem solving are sharpened by the hundreds of room settings in a wide range of styles that I have designed for IKEA. And being a mum gave me first-hand knowledge and a better understanding of designing spaces for children of all ages.

In 2019 our family decided to lay permanent roots back in the UK. We purchased a house in Glasgow to renovate during the 2020 pandemic. Being a full-time mum since 2014, our new home became my interior design project along with my first clients in the UK— friends and families who are likewise undergoing or are planning to start their own home renovation journey. I noticed a common denominator amongst us parents— a desperation for a beautiful clutter-free and organised home! I then resolved to tackle this main concern in every family home.

Did I mention that I received a full training in Children’s IKEA? It delved on the psychology and needs of children and how the home and furnishings MUST address and reflect these. I also have a reputation for ingenious use of small spaces and bespoke storage solutions.
